Engineering networks as a limiting factor in the post-industrial development of Yekaterinburg
Abstract. The article examines the influence of utility networks on the socio-spatial development of Yekaterinburg in the post-industrial period. The study aims to identify the relationship between the deterioration and uneven modernization of utility infrastructure, investment activity, and territorial differentiation. The research employs systems, comparative, GIS, and SWOT analysis. The Vtorcheremet district is used as a case study to demonstrate how deteriorated utility networks are associated with constraints on urban renewal and uneven investment development. The study substantiates the need for integrated infrastructure planning.
Keywords: engineering networks, post-industrial city, Yekaterinburg, infrastructure inequality, space production, socio-spatial development, infrastructure inertia, GIS analysis
